Moderator: What is your name and which city do you represent?
spencer: My name is Spenser Smith and I represent Valley Stream, NY
Moderator: Please introduce your recently released works. What inspired you to create these works?
spencer: My latest release is my latest single “FATAL FURY”. The launch was inspired by a custom canvas that taps into the influence of my favorite childhood fighting game, Capcom Vs. Snk 2. Funnily enough, I didn’t plan on releasing this record until later, but after hearing Drake’s “8 AM in Charlotte” while working on my album, it inspired me to release my next album before fans received it. Before the album, they produced a Boom Bap Bar Heavy record. album.
Host: What is unique about you and your music?
spencer: I’ve found that what makes my art as unique as myself is that I stay true to my love of lyricism and soulful introspective/boom-making. Lyrically, I always try to provide the listener with a story or an experience that gives them comfort knowing they will be able to learn from or relate to any of my records.
Host: What shapes your music?
spencer: What shaped my music was discovering my love for lyricism and taking the time to hone my storytelling skills. I took the time to study my idols and understand the difference between having the best bar, while also being able to convey a story to the listener from start to finish.
Host: When did you realize that you wanted to make music professionally?
spencer: During my senior year of high school, I realized I wanted to study music professionally. During that period of my life, it was a pivotal moment in deciding what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. My peers were always talking among themselves about where we were going to go to school after graduation. I knew deep down that I originally wanted to pursue my dream of being a rapper. I never imagined becoming an audio engineer/music producer working professionally in the music industry.I learned in life
Host: What type of music do you listen to?
spencer: In my spare time, I mainly listen to 90s East Coast hip-hop, some 2000s hip-hop, and of course I always stay true to my love for soul music, appreciating 90s R&B and some of today’s modern R&B
Host: What inspires you to create music?
spencer: What inspires me to make music is being able to create something from the perspective of whoever is telling the story, being able to play the role of master, artist, composer, engineer while still maintaining substance
Host: When you’re not doing music (creative or otherwise) but something you love, what do you do?
spencer: When I’m not working on music, I enjoy reading books like The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of War, The Laws of Mastery, and more. I also like to watch TV or superhero movies/shows and anime to get inspired or to relax and de-stress. I also enjoy studying the stock market while focusing on building my next business venture.
Host: Thinking back on your journey, what advice do you wish you had received when you first started making music?
spencer: I wish someone had told me to pursue my dreams with all my might and stay pure while pursuing my path to prosperity. If you are going to pursue music, learn about every faucet in the industry from songwriting to music production, and understand the business side of the industry.
Host: Exciting moments are coming! Can you give us a sneak peek at your upcoming projects?
spencer: I have an album coming out in early 2024 with themes including R&b samples, East Coast Hip Hop, Mafioso Hip Hop and Introspective Conscious Hip Hop.On my next album I’m channeling all the energy/emotions from the despair I endured through all the trials and tribulations I encountered in 2020 through romantic squabbles, emotional surrender, and speaking for all those who have suffered my story silently
Moderator: Is there anything you would like to say to readers at the end?
spencer: My final words are, if you want to achieve something in this life, work hard and commit to your goal or dream every day. You have the ability to get anything you want, don’t let anyone hold you back. Stay true to yourself and complete your mission until the game begins. See you in the new season.
