North Adams, Mass. (WWLP) – Iconic American alternative rock band Wilco has just announced their withdrawal from the highly anticipated 2024 Solid Sound Festival, preparing for a musical extravaganza.
The festival will be held June 28-30 at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams, a three-day feast of music and colorful entertainment.
Headlining the event, Wilco will share the stage with a number of artists across different genres. Joining the festival’s star line-up are the Ratboys, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Soul Glo, Water From Your Eyes, Iris DeMent and more. The festival aims to be a melting pot of musical genres from indie rock to soulful folk, ensuring every music lover will find something to their liking.
Not content with just making headlines, individual members of Wilco will also be bringing more shows to their audiences. Frontman Jeff Tweedy will host a unique show called “Jeff Tweedy & Friends” for a special musical experience. Meanwhile, guitarist Nels Cline and drummer Glenn Kotche will join Darin Gray and Chris Corsano to form the Saccata Quartet, promising collaborations that transcend traditional boundaries.
Solid Sound Festival 2024 is more than just music; It’s a celebration of all art forms. Live demonstrations of Hrishikesh Hirway’s Song Exploder podcast, comedy cabaret performances by John Hodgman, live painting classes with Steve Keene and pop-up interviews will add extra entertainment and creativity to the festival experience.
The diverse line-up includes DJ sets from Dry Cleaning, Wednesday, Horsegirl, Joanna Sternberg, Fenne Lily, Haile Mergia, Ratboys, Mikaela Davis, Soul Glo, Water From Your Eyes, Courtney Marie Andrews and Sylvan Esso.
In addition to musical performances, Solid Sound 2024 also promises a rich cultural experience. John Hodgman’s comedy cabaret and live version of the Song Exploder podcast, as well as Jeff Tweedy’s conversation with host Hrishikesh Hirway, will The remix adds laughter and insight. Renowned artist Steve Keene will perform live painting demonstrations, allowing festivalgoers to witness the art creation process firsthand.
Tickets for Solid Sound 2024 are on sale on the festival website, giving music lovers the chance to secure a seat at this unforgettable event. Notably, ticket holders also gain access to MASS MoCA, which hosts exhibitions by Laurie Anderson, Osman Khan, Elle Pérez, Amy Yoss Temporary exhibitions by Amy Yoes and Jason Moran round out the festival experience.
After a hiatus in 2022, Solid Sound Festival is back with a bang, promising to blend music, art and entertainment to leave a lasting mark in summer 2024.
