Bryan Tanaka is opening up about his split from Mariah Carey .
The 40-year-old backup dancer took to social media on Tuesday (December 26) to share a lengthy statement about the couple’s split, which he said was a “mutual” decision between them.
“Dear friends and fans, it is with mixed emotions that I share a personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together,” Tanaka wrote on Instagram. “We The decision to take different paths was mutual, and as we navigate these different journeys, we do so with a deep respect and a strong gratitude for the precious time we spent together. The memories and artistic collaborations we created Forever etched in my heart.”
Carey, 54, and Tanaka began working together in 2006 when he appeared as a member of the iconic singer-songwriter’s Adventures of Mimi tour.She confirmed the relationship in a statement Associated Press in a February 2017 interview after she called him her “boyfriend.” Their romance was also featured on Carey’s E!reality series maria’s world. They started dating after Kelly split from her ex-fiancé, Australian businessman James Packer.
Speculations about the couple’s breakup began after Tanaka was absent from the “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer’s Merry Christmas. Tour in mid-November, people Report. The publication also noted that he did not celebrate the holidays with Carey in Aspen, Colorado, as usual.
