in a recent interview Hip Hop DXWaka Flocka talks about a viral video in which he thought the American Sign Language interpreter was just a woman looking down during his performance. According to him, he realized immediately after the concert that she was more than just an ardent fan. Fortunately, the incident allowed him to learn a lot from the deaf community, making it an overall enlightening experience for the rapper.

“(I realized it was a sign language interpreter) after the concert,” he told the outlet. “Yo man, shout out to the deaf community too. We actually have a movie that’s about to be shortlisted for the ESPY Awards. We’re definitely going to be in some trouble. I love that community by the way. Because that community taught me a lot . Now I know how to avoid people who speak other languages.”

He went on to elaborate on how the deaf community taught him to understand what others are saying when they don’t speak their language. “I can understand if it’s negative or positive because the conversation vibrates,” he described. “So if someone’s conversation makes me dizzy, I know that’s not for me. I don’t have to look interesting. So I learned a lot from the vibe of that community and everything else.”

“I’ve always wondered why the first two to four rows are lit up every festival,” he also noted. “They were lit like fuck, but no one knew that by law you were supposed to provide that to the (deaf) community – so they vibrated! That’s why they moved! Oh, I did fall in love. ” What do you think of Waka Flocka’s sweet story about learning from the deaf community?
