Mark Morris Dance Center partners with Brooklyn Music School (BMS) to offer music and dance experiences
The Mark Morris Dance Center School is partnering with the Brooklyn Music School (BMS) to offer an interdisciplinary summer camp “Music and Dance Experience” for children ages 5 to 12 during the 2024 winter and spring break in New York public schools.
Children will have the opportunity to dance, make music, create and perform during winter break, February 19-23, or spring break, April 22-26. The camp will combine the study of different music and drama disciplines as well as various dance forms. Classes include hip-hop, modern dance, ballet, choir, musical theater and songwriting, all taught by world-class faculty from each partner organization. Midwinter Camp will focus on one of Mark Morris’ critically acclaimed choreographies, the look of loveapproached from multiple lenses.
“We are excited to combine the creative expertise of our two schools to create something even greater together,” said Alexandra Cook, Director of Youth and Family Programs at Mark Morris Dance Center School. “As neighbors and cultural partners in downtown Brooklyn, it seems only natural that the kids in our community don’t have to choose between two institutions—they can get it all at once!”
No experience is required and children do not have to be current students at Brooklyn Music School or Mark Morris Dance Center School to attend camp.
