host: Today we had the opportunity to interview the talented Aneesa Badshaw. Representing Mississauga to the Bone in Canada’s vibrant GTA, Aneesa is a rising star known for her unique style and voice. Recently teamed up with Savage Savo for a hit collaboration titled “Whine Up Pon Mi” which seamlessly blends dancehall and soca beats. Let’s get to know a little more about the artist and the inspiration behind her music.
host: What is your name and which city do you represent?
Aneesa Badshaw, I represent Mississauga. (Canada, Greater Toronto Area)
host: Please tell us about your latest releases and what inspired you to create them?
Anissa Badshaw: I just released a new collaborative song called “Whine Up Pon Mi.” Savage Savo, dancehall/soca fusion! Produced by SmokeShop Studios, Badshaw Records and Savage Ent.
host: What is unique about you and your music?
Anissa Badshaw: I would definitely say my style and voice are different from a lot of people, I like to look extra and loud when it comes to fashion. Musically, I love blending different sounds together and not being afraid to try new things.
host: What shapes your music?
Anissa Badshaw: I would say Hiphop, RnB and Dancehall have shaped my music.
host: When did you realize you wanted to make music professionally?
Anissa Badshaw: I actually wanted to do music before I became a model, but I took it seriously three years ago.
host: What type of music do you listen to?
Anissa Badshaw: I like almost everything, but RNB and HipHop are my main hobbies. They resonate with me the most.
host: What inspires you to make music?
Anissa Badshaw: My life situation really inspires me and my team to make music.
host: What do you do when you’re not doing music (creative or otherwise) but something you’re passionate about?
Anissa Badshaw: Cooking! I love cooking and will be releasing a cooking show in the near future 🙂
host: What do you wish someone had told you when you first started making music that you think would be helpful to artists just starting out?
Anissa Badshaw: When embarking on a musical journey, it’s valuable to get advice on collaborations, especially with established artists. One notable experience was investing in a feature appearance by respected rapper Zoey (officially known as ZOEY DOLLAZ), which unfortunately resulted in long-term unfulfilled promises and communication challenges. To make sense of the situation, I experienced multiple delays and unresponsiveness despite guaranteed refunds. This experience highlights the importance of establishing clear terms, communicating expectations, and possibly exploring contractual agreements to guard against such challenges in collaborative efforts.
host:Tell us about your upcoming projects…
Anissa Badshaw: I have an EP/album coming out in the New Year called “Rendezvous”. Mainly collaborations with other artists.
host: Is there anything else you would like to say to readers at the end?
Anissa Badshaw: Keep your head high and focus on what truly makes you happy. Turn your dreams into reality.
host: Aneesa, thank you for sharing your insights with us today. We wish you all the best on your musical journey and we can’t wait to hear more from you. For our readers and music lovers, be sure to interact with Aneesa Badshaw, follow her journey, and stay tuned for exciting releases coming soon. Until next time, keep the music alive!
