The Taylor Scott Band will perform Thursday night at Devil’s Craft in Winter Park to benefit Blue Star Connection’s Catt-O-Sonic Guitar Project. These custom guitars are designed for use in a sterile environment so that hospital patients can play them safely.
Blue Star Connection, whose mission is to provide musical instruments to children and adults with cancer or other illnesses, is part of the local nonprofit Grand County Blues Society. The nonprofit also works with music therapists so they can provide services to people while they’re in the hospital.
Currently, Blue Star Connection is raising funds to purchase 36 Catt-O-Sonic guitars. Made in Austin, Texas, these custom instruments are designed with special paints and glosses to withstand harsh cleaning chemicals. Additionally, the hardware is coated so it can be cleaned and has a special cover to protect the electronics.
The benefit concert begins at 9 p.m. on December 28, and tickets are $15 for the three-hour show. Funds raised will be used to purchase guitars.
“Please help us support this wonderful cause to bring the gift of music to those in recovery,” the Grand County Blues Society said in an email.
Tickets can be purchased at EventBrite Or at the door.
