Dr. Umar Goes After Vanessa Bryant For How She Is Spending Kobe Bryant’s Money

Controversial figure Dr. Omar attacks Vanessa Bryant during recent appearance Joe Budden Podcast. Omar accused Kobe of “not doing anything” to “uplift the black community” in the same way she spent her late husband’s money in recent years. Omar noted that Bryant recently launched an “athletic initiative” with “six predominantly white universities.” Omar’s anger was because Bryant didn’t “choose an HBCU.” Omar was referring to Mamba and the Mambacita Sports Foundation. In September, the foundation announced partnerships with the University of Connecticut, USC, Kentucky, Oregon, Duke and Louisiana State University. It’s worth noting that UConn was considered a front-runner to recruit Gigi Bryant before her death.

However, Omar was largely outclassed by Joe Budden’s crew. One writer opined that “there are a lot of angry black wives who get black people’s money and do nothing for the black community.” Like many of Omar’s moments, it feels more like he’s talking than actually having something to say.

Lakers to add Kobe Bryant statue in 2024

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Vanessa Bryant announced that her late husband would be getting a statue at Crypto.com Arena. “On behalf of the Lakers, my daughters and I, we are honored to unveil a statue of him right here in downtown Los Angeles, in what is known as ‘The House That Kobe Built’, so that his legacy can live on forever.” Be celebrated,” Bryant said in a video statement. Bryant will become the seventh Lakers player to receive the statue. The statue walk currently features portraits of Elgin Baylor, Shaq, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Jerry West and Chick Hearn.

The Lakers said the statue has been in development for some time. Additionally, they pointed out that Bryant himself was involved in the initial design process. The team also said it would be the first in “a series of physical tributes” to the late star. “Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest athletes of all time and one of the most iconic figures in Los Angeles history,” team owner Jeanie Buss said. “There is no better place to honor Kobe Bryant than here, in the heart of our city, where everyone can celebrate him and be inspired by his incredible achievements.”
