Ado’s “Show” returned to the top spot last week, reaching No. 12 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart.
On the Dec. 27 chart, counting the week ending Christmas Eve, “Show” surpassed the 11-week record held by Gen Hoshino’s “Koi” and is now on pace to equal the official HIGE DANdism’s “Subtitle” 13-week record. First of the week. (The record for the longest number one week is 21 weeks, held by YOASOBI’s “idol”.)
“Show”‘s streaming volume dropped about 6% from last week to 9,707,241 times, but it still dominated this metric for 14 consecutive weeks. The song’s video playback volume also ranked first (for the 12th consecutive week), downloads rose 3-2 places to 10,210 copies, and karaoke song rankings rose 7-9 places.
≠ME (Not Equal Me)’s “Anti Confiture” debuted at No. 4 on the Japanese Hot 100 chart. The girl group’s eighth single released 216,440 CDs, setting the number one spot in physical sales. Ranking second in sales is HKT48’s “Bucket wo Kabure!” with first-week sales of 183,540 copies. The girl group’s 17th single ranked fifth on the Japanese Hot 100 chart.
As mentioned, this week’s charts end on Christmas Eve, and as usual during the holiday season, Christmas and winter-themed songs soar on the Japanese Hot 100 chart, mostly played by radio stations. There are 13 songs on the list this year, surpassing the previous record of 11 songs in 2022. Here’s a list of this year’s winter-themed entries:

After the CD was released on December 20, “Kissin’ Christmas (Christmas dakara janai) 2023” written by Keisuke Kuwata and Yumi Matsutoya jumped to second place.This song was originally written for merry christmas showis Kuwata’s now legendary music program pioneered in 1986. The show has been reworked with a newly recorded duet between the Dixieland Stars frontman and the Lovers Santa singer-songwriter. The song dominated the airwaves, selling 25,639 copies in its first week, ranking No. 4 in sales, and reaching No. 7 with 5,131 downloads, giving the two iconic hitmakers their highest No. 1 hit on the Japanese Hot 100 to date. song.
Returning from 2015, “The Christmas Song” improves to 11-6 this week, reaching the top 10 in the same season for the third consecutive year. This year, the track entered the top 20 on the charts released on December 6 and has gradually climbed up. This week, the evergreen pop-rock love song ranks at No. 5 with 6,976,101 plays, up about 3% from last year’s peak of 6,715,894 plays. The song ranked No. 32 with 1,789 downloads, No. 7 among radio shows and No. 8 among video shows, surpassing karaoke songs for the first time this year.
Meanwhile, Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” climbs 35 spots to No. 10. “The Christmas Queen” ranks third among radio shows on Modern Standards, behind Tatsuro Yamashita’s iconic seasonal favorite “Christmas Night.” Carey’s “A Christmas Song” ranks 11th in streams with 5,089,233 plays, 28th in downloads with 1,857 downloads, and 29th in videos.
