Alex Rodriguez and Mark Love are finalizing a purchase of a majority stake in the Minnesota basketball team. Since April 2021, Rodriguez and Love have been purchasing installments from Glen Taylor to the Timberwolves and Bobcats. In the latest acquisition, A-Road and Love will control 80% of the two teams. Taylor, who has owned the franchise since 1994, will retain the remaining 20%. However, he has the option to sell it to Rodriguez and Love later.
The ownership change comes as the Timberwolves are in the midst of their best start to a season in franchise history. The team has a record of 22 wins and 7 losses, ranking first in the Western Conference. This is the payoff of A-Rod and Love’s influence. Moves like acquiring Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly and players like Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley are paying huge dividends. However, it remains to be seen whether the Timberwolves can maintain their pace and push themselves toward a championship run.

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards mocked by Kevin Durant
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant was abrasive recently when answering a question about whether he would wear Anthony Edwards’ signature shoe. “I will never see me putting my big toe on their Mfers,” Durant wrote on X (formerly Twitter). What’s even more cruel is that in response to Edwards’ own video, Durant said that Durant is the player he most wants to see wearing his signature shoes. Edwards has never been shy about expressing his admiration for Durant.
Those comments largely support Durant’s sharp sense of humor and unapologetic honesty. However, some are warning Durant to be careful because Edwards and the Timberwolves will “roast” Durant and the Suns. If that’s the case, those fans will have to wait a while. The Suns and Timberwolves don’t play again until April. Edwards has yet to respond to Durant’s comments. Durant recently took a photo involving Drake’s own signature shoe. Maybe Durant objects to wearing an opponent’s shoes.
