Now the American Jewish Committee is responding. They are one of the most important groups speaking on behalf of American Jewry. The committee later issued a statement regarding West’s apology. “Not only is the Hebrew apology strange, but it may have been an attempt to gain more attention, and without translation it is incomprehensible to most American Jews who do not speak the language,” their response began.
