Pete Carroll’s Geno Smith injury update is music to Seahawks fans’ ears

Despite looking a little badly worn against the Titans, Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith told coach Pete Carroll he’s fine.

The Seattle Seahawks are somehow staying alive. In a game similar to their previous victory, the team achieved a comeback victory. This time, their victims were the Tennessee Titans. After trailing 17-13 in the fourth quarter, Geno Smith orchestrated a game-winning drive that ended with a pass to Colby Parkinson that sealed the victory.

However, Smith looked shaky at times during the game. The Seahawks quarterback suffered a groin injury a few weeks ago, and it doesn’t appear he’s fully recovered yet. There are concerns that Smith’s injury could worsen again. However, Pete Carroll’s Post game evaluation According to Bob Condotta, Smith’s injury seems to indicate the latter will be fine.

“Pete Carroll said Jordyn Brooks re-injured his sprained ankle. Said Damian Lewis was sore in his knee. Geno Smith said he was fine — a few times slow but called it just ‘football’ stuff.”

The Seahawks aren’t quite out of the woods yet when it comes to playoff seeding. They still need to win their final two games to fully cement a playoff spot. However, their chances improved significantly when the Vikings lost on the night. This victory gives them a legitimate chance to control their own destiny.

Despite the victory, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows in Seattle. There are still concerns about the offense as they have struggled the past two games. The comeback against the Eagles was impressive, but beating the struggling Titans in similar fashion was concerning. If there’s been a silver lining over the past two weeks, it’s that the defense has been more or less solid. Seattle has a lot of talent on offense, especially Jaxon Smith-Ngiba who has been a stud the past few weeks.

The Seahawks’ final two games are entirely winnable: at home against the hot-and-cold Steelers, then on the road against the weak Cardinals. However, they need to perform much better than they did in the first two games. This is especially true for their game against the Steelers, who will likely be fighting for a playoff spot.
